Echoes of the Grind was designed to start a conversation.

In a Nigerian music industry filled with fast moments and short attention spans, Echoes of the Grind stood out by choosing intention over speed. The collaborative EP marked the first Executive Producer credit for Jimoh Habeeb (Luis Beeb) a talent manager, experienced A&R, and creative executive developed alongside his colleague Oyinda and powered by Music Marketing Conference Africa (MMCA)
But beyond the music, the project was about testing a model.
A First Edition Built on Process, Not Hype
After MMCA, a group of carefully selected emerging artists were brought together for a week-long creative residency. Locked into a shared apartment studio, they recorded, experimented, challenged each other, and refined ideas in real time. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t easy. And it wasn’t guaranteed to work.
There were moments of doubt when the project could have stalled or collapsed entirely. But through persistence and focused talent management, the team completed the EP, produced visual content, and executed a lean but effective rollout.

That alone made the project a success.
Why This Model Matters
As an experienced A&R, Habeeb approached the process with one key principle: growth over comfort. Artists were encouraged to explore unfamiliar sounds, push past creative habits, and focus on depth rather than trends.
“It’s not about forcing creativity,” he explains. “It’s about creating the right environment for it to evolve.”

From multiple recorded sessions, the project was refined into seven standout tracks, guided by industry professionals who helped preserve the emotional core of the work.
The themes life, patience, ambition, and resilience reflected not just the music, but the journey behind it.
Proof of Concept, Not a Final Destination
The intimate listening session held in Lagos offered a glimpse into what this platform could become. Artists connected directly with listeners, shared stories behind the music, and experienced something many emerging creatives rarely get: intentional attention.
Echoes of the Grind proved something important:
Structure helps talent thrive
Process creates confidence
Community fuels sustainability
Most importantly, it showed that this model works even with limited resources.
The Next Edition: Bigger, Deeper, Wider
With the foundation laid, the vision moving forward is clear. The next edition of Echoes of the Grind aims to:
– Expand the creative residency model
– Involve more artists across multiple regions
– Strengthen partnerships with brands, venues, and platforms
– Scale live performance experiences alongside recordings
– Build a sustainable pipeline for emerging talent
This is not just about releasing music; it’s about building an institution artists can grow within.
The first edition was proof of commitment. The next will be proof of scale. With continued support from Music Marketing Conference Africa, Party Monks Entertainment, Cobhams Asuquo, AK Street, Ibrahim, and future collaborators, Echoes of the Grind is evolving into something much bigger than an EP.

This was only the beginning.
The grind continues, and the echoes are getting louder.
